Another week over already, it’s been tough going to work and leaving everyone at home snoozing and I’ve missed the usual fun I’d be having with the boys but it’s been an uneventful week and given the way things have been going recently, I’m utterly grateful for that. Thank you for all of your lovely comments and emails last week, the funeral isn’t for another fortnight so I’ve been trying not to think about it. Before I go on to my outfits of the week I thought I’d show you a Boden ‘try on,’ the result of my comfort shop – dresses for work this time. I’m keeping them both and hopefully it will soon be warm enough to wear them.

I was a bit surprised by the state of this Betty dress when it was delivered, it seems to be covered in deodorant marks – not up to Boden’s usual standard but hopefully customer services will do something about it because it’s now sold out in my size.

Ok, so a quick catch up with some real outfits of the day. Good Friday was a wild and wuthering day, we spent most of it in relaxed mode in front of a roaring fire but did venture out for a movie and a burrito.

Easter Saturday was spent looking at new cars thanks to Mr MC’s mishap. Our friends are often dismayed by our lack of interest in cars and given that I spend so much of my week looking at demographic profiles, I really enjoy kicking against them by refusing to drive the ‘right’ car. The only car I’ve ever had that I loved was a Triumph Stag which was prophetically traded in for a Nissan Almera the week before I gave birth to my first son! Anyway Mr MC has declared that I’m officially having a midlife crisis because I’ve found one with the option of a ‘sporty red interior’ on the spec and I’m holding out for that one.

Just a quick note on the Joules Harbour Breton – I’m not a big Joules shopper but in my opinion these are the best bretons. They are a lovely thick jersey which makes them hang as a breton should – it’s really annoying that they have Joules branding on the sleeve (I can’t stand wearing anything with a logo on it) but I even manage to overcome that because I like them so much. Size down though if you’re buying one – they come up big – this is a size 10 and I’m a standard 12.

On Easter Sunday when the rest of the country was apparently basking in sunshine, we were shrouded by fog so we had a very atmospheric walk around Tarn Hows followed by a hearty pub lunch. It was a day for practical clothing rather than glamour!

On Monday we had planned to cook sausages on the beach with friends but we were stymied by the fog again so they came over to us and we shivered over the barbecue.

On Wednesday I was distracted by the bucolic vision of my three boys playing cricket together in the garden when I got home and completely forgot about photos but here’s Thursday’s work outfit, the start of the weekend for me.

We have plans for a bike ride and a picnic today – at last I can get out into the sunshine instead of just gazing at it from an office window! Have a lovely weekend everyone and don’t forget to keep in touch.
