A little invitation…
Some of you reading this know Marrakech well. Others have been meaning to go for years and never quite got there. This trip is made for both. If you’ve never been, you’ll still see the things worth seeing, just without the scramble and the queues. If you know it already, this is the slower, quieter version you get to once the obvious sights are behind you.
I’ve been five times now and it still gives me something new every visit.
It’s really a trip about stepping out of your own life for a few days, with your own quiet room and a small group of like-minded women.
Mal will be there throughout, handling the practicalities so I can focus on you.

What the escape looks like
Day 1, Wednesday 17 March. Arrive at your own pace. A private transfer brings you into the medina to Riad Al Jazira, which we have entirely to ourselves. In the evening we gather for welcome drinks and a long, easy first dinner together at Cafe Clock.
Day 2, Thursday 18 March. A morning at the Jardin Majorelle and Le Jardin Secret, done the way I’ve learned to do it rather than in a queue. A self-guided wander of a few favourite boutiques. Lunch out, a short workshop at the riad in the afternoon, then dinner out together.
Day 3, Friday 19 March. A morning artisan workshop at Maison du Tapis, working with the makers on slippers, zellige or weaving. Lunch in the medina, a free afternoon, then an exciting trip out for dinner under the stars in the Agafay desert.
Day 4, Saturday 20 March. A long, unhurried group breakfast and an optional session led by me, then private transfers back to the airport whenever your flight calls.
Who it’s for
This is for you if:
- You’re curious about Marrakech, whether it’s your first visit or your fifth and want a slower, more thoughtful few days rather than the obvious tourist circuit
- You’re ready for some time that’s genuinely your own, with your own en-suite room
- You enjoy good conversation, good food and a relaxed atmosphere
Most people come on their own and that is exactly how it is designed. You will not be the only one arriving solo.
A reminder
Because we take the whole riad and every room is single occupancy, this escape is intentionally tiny, just 17 places.
If it feels like something you would enjoy, it’s worth booking sooner rather than later.

Where we’re staying
Riad & Spa Al Jazira
Sidi Ben Sliman
Marrakech Medina
We have taken over the whole of Riad Al Jazira, just for us. It is a beautifully restored 17th-century house in the medina, with three linked patios, one shaded by an immense banana tree, one built around a fountain and gallery, and one wrapped around a traditional pool and an open salon. There are sofa-filled sitting rooms, a winter fireplace that comes into its own on March evenings, a large sun terrace, and a hammam and spa. Every delegate has her own single en-suite room, with breakfast taken together around the courtyard.
“White, simple and uncluttered, this 17th-century riad of three patios seduces with its harmonious proportions and its intimate character.”
Getting there
Fly in to Marrakech Menara airport. A private transfer, included, brings you the short distance into the medina to the riad.
By air
Marrakech Menara airport is about 20 minutes from the medina by private transfer.
Transfers
Airport transfers both ways are included in your place.
Getting around
The medina is walkable, and a local guide is with us throughout.
Once you land, your transfer is arranged, so you can settle in and relax straight away.

Nikki Garnett
What I’ve always hoped to create, both on the blog and at events like this, is a space that feels warm, honest and easy to be part of. Somewhere you can simply be yourself, among women who understand where you are in life, without any sense of needing to explain it.
These gatherings are really just an extension of that. People arrive not knowing anybody and within a very short time the conversation is flowing and it all feels surprisingly natural. There’s no pressure, no expectation – just time to talk, to listen and to enjoy being in good company for a while.

Mal Garnett
I’m the one working quietly in the background so Nikki can do what she does best, which is be with you. I’ve spent my career in creative and marketing, and on every Escape I look after the practical side: the travel, the timings, the bookings, and the small details that mean you never have to think about logistics.
I’ll be there throughout, mostly out of the way, making sure the few days feel effortless. My job is simple, take the faff away so you can relax, talk and enjoy every part of the trip.

Yes – most people do. These events are designed so that nobody feels awkward arriving alone. Within a very short time of everyone meeting, the room is usually full of conversation and your solo arrival fades into the background.
Not at all. Some people come having met a few of the regulars at previous events, but most arrive not knowing anyone. That’s part of how it’s designed.
Whatever makes you feel like yourself. Think relaxed break rather than formal occasion – most people land somewhere between smart-casual and softly dressy. There’s no dress code.
You’ll be able to check in from mid-afternoon and we’ll meet for welcome drinks early evening. Exact timings will be sent through with your final details a few days before.
