A little invitation…
One of the things you tell me again and again is how hard it is to find ‘your people’ at this stage of life – women who understand where you are and who you’re becoming.
So this summer I’m planning an intimate Midlifechic overnighter.
It’s a chance to step away from everyday life for a while and spend time in good company with women who often arrive not knowing anybody and leave having made real friendships.
The last one was relaxed, warm and full of conversation from the moment people arrived. There’s something about being in a room with like-minded women that just works.
This one will follow the same easy going format.
No pressure, no expectations – just good conversation, good food and a bit of time to yourself in a beautiful setting.
What the overnighter looks like
Arrive mid-afternoon and settle in, you’ll have an en suite room to yourself – no need to share with anyone else. Join others for a relaxing chat or make the most of the opportunity to explore Bristol.
Pre-dinner drinks will be served and it’s time to meet the whole group
Dinner follows – a relaxed three-course meal with wine – and then we’ll move through to our own private bar where the evening will continue in an easy, informal way.
The next morning we’ll have a relaxed breakfast together and there’s an opportunity to enjoy the spa facilities and/or the gym, stay for coffee with your new friends and head off when you’re ready.
It’s simple, but that’s what makes it work.
Who it’s for
This is for you if:
- You’re keen to meet like-minded midlife women
- You’re ready for a bit of time that’s just for you
- You enjoy proper conversation rather than chit chat, connection and a relaxed atmosphere
Most people come on their own – and that’s exactly how it’s designed. You’ll leave with a whole host of new friends.
A reminder
Because these events are intentionally small, places tend to go quickly.
If it feels like something you’d enjoy, it’s worth booking sooner rather than later.

Where we’re staying
Bristol Harbour Hotel
53–55 Corn Street
Bristol
BS1 1HT
United Kingdom
We’ll be staying at the Bristol Harbour Hotel, set in the heart of the old city on Corn Street. It’s one of those places that feels quietly special – a beautifully restored building with high ceilings, soft lighting and a calm, elegant atmosphere that makes it easy to relax as soon as you arrive. After dinner, we’ll move through to the Gold Bar, a tucked-away space that feels both atmospheric and a little bit indulgent. It’s softly lit, comfortable and entirely ours for the evening which means we can settle into the conversation without interruption – the point where the night really finds its rhythm, unhurried and full of connection.
“This boutique hotel, set in two former banks in the heart of Bristol, is a tribute to imaginative and traditional design, while its quirkiness reflects the city’s character. The glorious facade is complemented by the Sansovino Hall, and the underground spa in the old bank vaults is a treat.”
How to get there
The Bristol Harbour Hotel is right in the centre of the city on Corn Street, so it’s very easy to reach.
By train
Bristol Temple Meads is the main station and is around a 15-20 minute walk, or a short taxi ride (about 5-10 minutes).
By car
There’s no on-site parking, but there are several nearby car parks within a few minutes’ walk – we’ll send details of the most convenient options once you’ve booked.
By taxi
Taxis and Ubers are easy to find in Bristol and can drop you directly outside the hotel.
Once you’re there, everything happens in one place – so you can settle in and relax straight away.

What I’ve always hoped to create, both on the blog and at events like this, is a space that feels warm, honest and easy to be part of. Somewhere you can simply be yourself, among women who understand where you are in life, without any sense of needing to explain it.
These gatherings are really just an extension of that. People arrive not knowing anybody and within a very short time the conversation is flowing and it all feels surprisingly natural. There’s no pressure, no expectation – just time to talk, to listen and to enjoy being in good company for a while.

FAQ’s
Yes – most people do. These evenings are designed so that nobody feels awkward arriving alone. Within a very short time of everyone meeting, the room is usually full of conversation and the solo arrival fades into the background.
Not at all. Some people come having met a few of the regulars at previous events, but most arrive not knowing anyone. That’s part of how it’s designed.
Whatever makes you feel like yourself. Think relaxed dinner rather than formal occasion – most people land somewhere between smart-casual and softly dressy. There’s no dress code.
You’ll be able to check in from mid-afternoon, and we’ll meet for welcome drinks early evening. Exact timings will be sent through with your final details a few days before.
The price includes an overnight stay in a single occupancy room, a welcome drink on arrival, a three-course dinner with wine, exclusive use of a private bar for the evening, breakfast the following morning, and Nikki’s personal hosting throughout.
