I’m going to give you not one but two posts this weekend which means today’s is going to be a bit shorter on words than usual. A few winter outfits of the day now and in time for the 9am start on Sunday, I will bring you my edit of the Boden sale. I’ll be trawling through and and picking out the best buys that fall into two categories, firstly wardrobe workhorses to fill gaps and give new life to what you already have and secondly, hero pieces that you might only wear occasionally but that I’m confident you’ll pull out every December for the next 10 years. So do check back on Sunday and see what I’ve found, in the meantime here’s a visual dash through a busy few days.

Wednesday work day

The cold weather has meant I’ve been wrapping up warm, here’s Wednesday’s work outfit (not sure now what was making me laugh, I suspect the photographer was saying something inappropriate). I find these Boden kilts really versatile because they have so many colours that you can pick out. This one has hot pink, grey, brown and bright blue so you can achieve completely different looks. Here I’m wearing it dressed down with grey :

Winter outfits

Roll neck jumper, tweed kilt, Jackie heels – all Boden past season

After a few requests I’m introducing a ‘shop the look’ edit which will help cover days when I’m wearing something that is from a past season – I hope you find it helpful. It has actually taken a lot longer than I thought and doesn’t look as neat as I wanted it to but I’ll get better with practice!

Thursday panto day

Yesterday I was feeling fed up with the gloomy weather – it just doesn’t seem to get light now we’re in deep December so I decided to wear bright colours and stand as close to the lights as possible so you can see a little bit of detail:

Last night we had a night out at the panto. The youngest’s form teacher (who is also Head of Divinity) was playing Widow Twankey so the school had taken over the theatre for the night to support him which was rather surprising for an educational establishment that prides itself on its academic and macho qualities! The teachers arrived en masse, obviously after a Christmas drink or two because they were very much in the spirit of things and I have to say it was an absolute scream. How I will ever take the poor man seriously at parents’ evening in January after seeing him perform “I feel like a Woman” in drag I don’t know (even though he did look very fetching)! Anyway, everyone had made an effort to sparkle and the boys were all wearing Christmas jumpers, here’s my outfit, the trusty Whistles blazer has even been replaced by a seasonal velvet tux (this is one of those things that you can keep for years to pull out at Christmas).

And then finally today we’ve all dressed up for Christmas jumper day, I’ve had mine for ages but hadn’t actually taken it out of the delivery package until this monring and I love it, the sequins have made the light bounce around the office all day:

As I type my ma-in-law has just arrived for the weekend and is waiting for a cup of tea so I must dash (you’ll remember she ‘doesn’t believe in the internet’ so trying to explain to her what I’m doing is a non-starter). Don’t forget to check in on Sunday for the sale piece. Have a great weekend and keep in touch – I will be working hard to keep said ma-in-law entertained so will be more delighted than ever to hear from you!
