A quick catch-up and twelve questions I’ve been asked recently that made me think

I’m back from my travels in Latin America and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s joined me here while I’ve been away. I’ve hesitated over the move to Substack for so long that I felt I had to take the plunge from a distance and it’s beginning to feel as if it was the right thing to do.

Soon some of the usual Midlifechic style posts will start appearing here so to everyone who’s grumbling about it feeling different, bear with me. I’m sure you’ll understand that I couldn’t keep writing while I was away with readers and on the move all of the time so it made sense to prepare posts before I left.

It meant I was able to start off here with the style theory that I’ve talked about for so long on the blog. That way new readers could catch up with the vocabulary that I often use when I’m talking about clothes. However not everything here will be the same. I’ve been blogging for nearly 13 years now and I’m ready to change things up a bit. I’m hoping to do a new kind of writing here as well – more about that soon.

Today though I’m weary. Our journey home took two days because of the late extension to the Caribbean that we bolted on. I’m jet legged and not up to writing very cohesively so instead I’m answering some questions that I’m hoping might provoke some good midlife chat.

A while ago I was sent a list by a journalist as part of a ‘wisdom through the ages’ feature she was writing. It’s something that happens a lot, they promise to feature your blog/Instagram/Substack in their publication in return for your answers. And then more often than not nothing happens – I suspect it isn’t their fault, they pitch it and it doesn’t go anywhere.

However, some of them were quite interesting and given that some of you are new here, I thought I could use them as a ‘getting to know you’ moment. In my hopes and dreams you’ll answer a few of the questions yourself below and there will be a really good midlife conversation in the comments. Let’s see what happens. Here we go – about being older and hopefully wiser.

Older and hopefully wiser
