As the Christmas jumper continues to grow in popularity, I’ve had to overcome my frugal Northern ways and devise a method of getting value for money out of something so seasonal. I am therefore declaring Christmas jumpers to be fair game from 1st December along with sequins, feathers and glitter. Although it isn’t officially Christmas jumper day until 18th December, if you want one you need to choose quickly because they’re selling out fast. (By the way, if you’re wondering about the post I promised on brands for curvy women, it’s coming – I’m just waiting for the shots from the photoshoot I went to last week with one of them). In the meantime here’s my pick of the best Christmas jumpers on the high street 2015.
Christmas jumpers – slogans and sequins
These are for anyone who is merry and bright – throw yourself into the Christmas spirit
Merry Chicmas – this has to come first. It almost feels like a duty for me to wear this!
A lovely glittery deer jumper with 30% off until Monday
This bauble jumper is my personal favourite of the sequin jumpers, sadly I can’t justify it because the Christmas jumper I still have from last year is navy
Great value gingerbread jumper but selling out fast
Robins are a big trend for this year and you could wear this jumper throughout winter, not just in December (reviews recommend you size down)
Another bauble jumper – it’s rare to find a Christmas jumper with an ivory background
I loved this cheeky ‘festive bird’ jumper when they did it in jersey last year
A classic Christmas tree jumper in a bright seasonal red
For those who find jumper itchy, this robin sweatshirt is a great alternative
This tree jumper stands out because it is embroidered – it’s also half price in the Black Friday sale at the moment
You definitely need to wear this bargain ‘Spoil Me’ jumper from 1st December if this is the message you’re trying to get across
This slogan jumper will make everyone who sees you burst into song
I love this Christmas tree one – it’s sold out at Asos but I’ve tracked it down
This one’s clever – brush the sequins one way and it says ‘Xmas 2015,’ ….
…. brush them the other way and you have ‘happy new year’ (also available in red).
Christmas Jumpers – the chic collection
For the cool cats who prefer their Christmas to be subtle.
Reindeer fairisle Christmas jumper in a complexion warming cream and 30% off
A snowy London scene, with its woven front, this would be great for anyone who overheats in jumpers, 30% off
A chic monochrome black and white fairisle, this is also available in a bright red and navy colourway
A luxury Christmas jumper (but it’s in the Black Friday sale), I love the soft colours and the vintage bambi
Another indulgent buy but one that could be worn right through winter rather than just at Christmas
This is for anyone who hates Christmas jumpers but still has an office Christmas jumper day. A chic shape with an on trend gold lustre.
More gold, these reindeer jumpers have nearly sold out so you’ll have to be quick
A nod to Christmas without being overtly festive, this Christmas jumper has a Russian feel to its graphic which will be a hot trend next winter (she says having spent the last 3 months sweating over trends for Winter 16).
A lovely Christmas fairisle jumper at a great price
The iconic star jumper in an insouciant grey and gold. I would love to buy this but I really can’t justify another grey jumper of any description
Very chic – such a pretty scatter sequin jumper and you could wear this all year round with jeans for nights out and there’s a Black Friday offer.
This stag jumper looks much much more expensive than it is – the best bargain buy I would say
Another sequin jumper that is ‘not just for Christmas,’ very cool with a touch of mod
Lovely lurex a very ‘apres ski’ jumper, another great choice if you don’t like woolly jumpers
The last of my bargain fairisle choices with a melange effect and a Black Friday offer.
Whilst we’re on the theme of Christmas jumpers, I have been looking for a black one to wear with the statement skirts that I like to get out at Christmas. Last year I wore them mostly with a simple black lambswool jumper but this year I’ve been looking for something sparkly. I’ve ordered three from completely different price brackets to compare:
cheap and cheerful glittery jumper from H&M
Mid priced lurex jumper from Jack Wills
and upper end high street from Whistles – sparkle double fronted jumper low stock but also available here (20% off this weekend – grrrr – who’d have thought Whistles would do Black Friday)! This image on their website is so bad that I have no idea what it will look like.
