As the Christmas jumper continues to grow in popularity, I’ve had to overcome my frugal Northern ways and devise a method of getting value for money out of something so seasonal. I am therefore declaring Christmas jumpers to be fair game from 1st December along with sequins, feathers and glitter. Although it isn’t officially Christmas jumper day until 18th December, if you want one you need to choose quickly because they’re selling out fast. (By the way, if you’re wondering about the post I promised on brands for curvy women, it’s coming – I’m just waiting for the shots from the photoshoot I went to last week with one of them). In the meantime here’s my pick of the best Christmas jumpers on the high street 2015.

The best Christmas jumpers on the high street 2015The last of my bargain fairisle choices with a melange effect and a Black Friday offer.

Whilst we’re on the theme of Christmas jumpers, I have been looking for a black one to wear with the statement skirts that I like to get out at Christmas. Last year I wore them mostly with a simple black lambswool jumper but this year I’ve been looking for something sparkly. I’ve ordered three from completely different price brackets to compare:

cheap and cheerful glittery jumper from H&M

The best Christmas jumpers on the high street 2015

Mid priced lurex jumper from Jack Wills

The best Christmas jumpers on the high street 2015

and upper end high street from Whistles – sparkle double fronted jumper low stock but also available here (20% off this weekend – grrrr – who’d have thought Whistles would do Black Friday)! This image on their website is so bad that I have no idea what it will look like.

I’ll let you know how I get on when they arrive. In the meantime I have proof that thanks to your busy dialogue in the comments section, our midlife voice is starting to be heard by brands. After my post about gifts for teenagers, Lynne commented “so hot footed it into Nottingham for the 30% off sale, bought loads of stuff (from Jack Wills) for nieces and nephews, returned home, started wrapping and gift receipts say must be exchanged by 19/12/2015. What’s the point of that ? (Unless Xmas is a week early and I hadn’t realised).”
Within a few hours the marketing team from Jack Wills had contacted me to say that they had seen the comment and they hadn’t realised that their till roll messages hadn’t been changed. They will be honouring all returns until after Christmas and have now amended the till rolls. So – well done Lynne, you’ve saved a lot of irritation for other people and isn’t it great to know that brands are listening to what we say – a big thank you to Jack Wills for reading Midlifechic.
I love the fact that the fashion industry is starting to respect the post 40 woman and I love the part that we’re playing in that so do keep commenting, I’m doing my best to keep up with you. I feel very motivated – we’re going to have a good year next year, I’m already making plans and I’ll tell you more about them soon. In the meantime I hope all of our American friends had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday with their friends and family – it was just another dark November day in the UK so do drop a comment about what you were all doing and cheer us up a bit. Have a great weekend.
