The sun is out in the North! It is! So I can either spend the next few hours writing a blogpost which, given the number of out of office replies I get each time I send one as well as the much lower than usual number of comments, isn’t feeling very encouraging at the moment. OR… I can take advantage of the fact that both of my boys are at a loose end this afternoon and are up for a walk down to the shore. So guess what I’m going to do. However there is something important coming up that I want to tell you about and those of you who are not sunning yourselves in a foreign climes will have an advantage here. You see I have a particularly lovely reader event in the calendar and tickets will go on sale next Friday.

Midlifechic reader event – save the date

An evening with Claudia Bradby and Nikki Garnett

You know my friend Claudia, I wear her jewellery almost all the time and you see me meeting up with her every so often in the sophisticated spots that she knows – here’s the last one.

Well, we’ve been busy planning our next catch-up and we’d like you to come along. This one’s going to be in London BUT if it goes well, the next will be in Manchester so northern readers please know that I haven’t forgotten you. For now I’m really hoping that some of you can come to this one, it’s going to be rather special because everything that Claudia touches is beautiful. It will take place at The Artist Residence…

…which is a very chic townhouse in Pimlico.

We’ll have our own space to relax in, there will be welcome drinks and plenty of seats so that we can sit in groups and chat properly.

Claudia Brady and Midlifechic event

Claudia and I are going to open it with a (very relaxed) talk together. She will be chatting about pearls – how she sources them and creates her pieces, where she finds inspiration for her designs and then I’m going to pick her brains about how to style jewellery well. There will be pieces for you to play around with so you can try out some of the tips she’s given. Afterwards we’ll both be milling around and catching up with you – it’s really just a chance for like-minds to get together in a beautiful place with a bit of learning too. You’ll leave with a little goody bag to take home with you, I do hope you can come.

Tickets will go on sale next Friday but as it’s an intimate venue they’re limited which is why I’m giving you a week’s notice. Here are the details:

Midlifechic reader event details

  • Date: Thursday 31st October (no Hallowe’en costume required!)
  • Time: 6pm – 10pm
  • Venue: Artist Residence, 52 Cambridge St, Pimlico, London SW1V 4QQ
  • Ticket price: £15

As an introvert I understand that things like this can feel daunting – I’ll be nervous on the night, I always am. Even so I think by now you know that there’s no need to worry about coming on your own, most people do and end up having the most fascinating conversations with women they’ve never met before because we all have so much in common. Some  go on to meet up again and again on their own and become firm friends. So take this chance to come along to something that should feel a little bit special, knowing that you’ll be in a warm and friendly environment. I’m looking forward to catching up with those of you I’ve met before (please come!) as well as a few new faces (please come too!). Tickets go live in next Friday’s blog post at the usual time – 5.05pm.

That’s it for today, I’m heading off with boys and dog for the simple pleasure of ice cream, sunshine and maybe even a spot of bog-hopping. We have an evening of dancing on our doorstep tomorrow night because Wayne Hemingway is in town for his annual Vintage By The Sea Festival which brings with it an after party filled with cool London DJs. It feels like this is the beginning of the slow farewell to summer because next week’s post will be the autumn fashion intro – I’ll be getting you thinking before you start to shop. The seasons they are a changing!
