Wow this weather is crazy – Mediterranean weather last night (even here), mad wind, rain and thunder this morning. The forecast is so bad for the weekend that we’ve had to cancel our annual camping weekend with friends. We’ve braved it through so many years of flash floods, plagues of big black bugs, gales so strong that the tents have been flattened and even tents setting on fire that this year we’ve decided to do the sensible thing and just not go – either a sign of old age or wisdom, who knows. So, my camping chic post is cancelled which is a darned shame because my friend N and I had planned to do it in force!

We’re beginning the slow, emotional wind down to the end of term and, as you know, the end of our primary school years. Last night was the first of the leavers’ events: watersports down at the lake and we were so lucky that it was such a balmy evening. With the blazing hot sunshine, all of the parents relaxed into holiday mode and we had a really nice time reminiscing over the last 9 years as most of the children have been together since pre-school. The primary school playground is a funny thing isn’t it. It seems to start off as a big parenting competition and ends up being quite chilled out with everyone admitting that parenting is ‘a journey.’ Here’s an outfit for you:

school disco chic

  •  Dress: Boden (last year)
  • Silver slingbacks: Boden
  • Necklace: Jane Akester
  • Sunglasses: Whistles

This morning for a dressed down Friday in the office

school disco chic

  • Blouse: Boden (past season)
  • Reaxed skinny jeans: Next
  • Sandals: Clarks
  • Necklace: SchoolgateStyle (out of stock)

And right now I’m off to the school disco (sorry if you thought I’d be dressed in a school tie) which gives the mums a chance to get together and embarrass the children by doing the macarena at the end – I will so miss that. I have always been briefed by my boys that if I insist on going (which I do) I must not dress up because that’s what the stupid girls do (can’t be classed as one of those)! So I am wearing

school disco chic

  •  Guipure sleeved sweatshirt: Mango (sold out)
  • Relaxed skinny jeans: Next
  • Gold Torque Necklace: Accessorize
  • Ballerina flats: Zara (sold out)

I really love this Mango sweatshirt bought during their 30% offer in May. It has a distressed wash which makes it look casual but the sleeves add a little relaxed glamour (I hope). It also looks good worn over a contrasting colour on cooler days.

With camping cancelled, we now have a rather unplanned weekend ahead which is quite nice. I don’t know about you but I feel like I’m chugging away on about 10% battery charge, I’m so ready for a holiday and the end of the relentless routine for a while. Are you feeling the same? Have a great weekend.
