Make your selections for dinner on Friday and Saturday evening

Please fill out all sections below

Both dinners need to be ordered ahead. Friday is a relaxed sharing supper with a choice of main. Saturday is a three-course sit-down dinner, so please choose a starter, main and dessert. If you have an allergy or something you’d rather avoid, tell us below as well as choosing, so the hotel can adapt your dishes. Lunches on Saturday and Sunday are buffets (a different spread each day), so there’s nothing to choose there. The Saturday cheese board is included, no supplement.

Full use of the Grange spa is included in your stay.

Heated indoor pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Treatments can be booked and paid for directly with the hotel.

Where we’re staying

The Grange,
Station Square,
Grange-over-Sands,
Cumbria, LA116EJ

The Grange Hotel is one of those classic hotels on the edge of the Lake District that’s perfect for winter. It has elegant, characterful rooms where we can sit and chat, and it will really feel like a retreat from the weather outside (which can be bracing!). That won’t matter to us though, because we’ll be able to huddle up inside during our sessions and then relax over excellent food in the evenings – the hotel enjoys panoramic views over Morecambe Bay, so there’s a beautiful outlook through the windows, though it’s the bay rather than the open sea beyond.

There’s a full-service spa, replete with a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and heated swimming pool, if you feel you need to do something physical to combat all of the thinking you’ve been doing. Outside are extensive private grounds with terraced gardens and woodlands.

It truly is a lovely place to stay, and as it’s on the Cartmel peninsula it’s somewhere that most people miss in their rush to the main Lake District honeytraps. If you’re in the mood to explore before or after the retreat, the foodie village of Cartmel is only a short drive away, and you have the whole of the Lake District on the doorstep, with Lake Windermere just five miles away.

How to get there

The Grange is only a 15 minute drive from the M6 or, if you’re coming by rail, you’ll take the spectacular branch line from Lancaster station which has to be one of the most beautiful train rides in the world as you cross over the water at Arnside.

By Car

From the M6, exit at Junction 36 and join the A590 towards Barrow. Continue for roughly 13 miles through scenic countryside, following signs for Grange-over-Sands. Turn onto Lindale Road and the Grange Hotel will be on your right, about 15–20 minutes after leaving the motorway.

By Train

Travel to Grange-over-Sands on the Furness Line, usually connecting via Lancaster or Preston. On arrival, the Grange Hotel is a two minute walk from the station.
