Midlifechic Escapes

Booking Conditions

Marrakech, 17 to 20 March 2027 · Version 2.0

These are the booking conditions for the Midlifechic Escape to Marrakech, three nights at Riad Al Jazira from 17 to 20 March 2027. Please read them before you pay your deposit. If anything isn’t clear, email us first. We’d far rather answer a question up front than work through a refund later.

1. About these conditions

This is a trip abroad, not a night out closer to home. We take over the whole of Riad Al Jazira for the group, book a single room for every delegate and commit to our Morocco partner, to restaurants, guides and transfers a long way ahead. Once those commitments are made the costs are largely fixed, whether or not every place fills.

So our terms can’t be as loose as an ordinary online purchase. We’ve kept them as fair and plain as we can, and they follow the cancellation cover our Morocco partner confirmed to us.

2. Booking and payment

Your place is secured by a non-refundable deposit of £500, taken at booking through Stripe, our payment partner. You choose your room type at this stage, Standard or Supérieure, first come first served.

The balance is due 75 days before departure, in early January 2027. We’ll send you the payment details in good time before then.

The €3 per person per night city tax isn’t part of the price. You pay it in cash at the riad when you arrive, so €9 per person for the three nights.

3. If you cancel your place

Please email us as soon as you know. We commit your room and your programme to our Morocco partner a long way ahead, and those costs are non-refundable to us, so a cancelled place can’t be refunded, deposit or balance. There are still a few ways to get the value back and we’ll help you with any of them.

Transfer your place. You can pass your place to another Midlifechic reader up to 14 days before departure. It’s the simplest route and the money side is settled between you and the person taking it. See section 4.

Let us resell it. If you’d like, we’ll offer your place to readers on the waitlist. If it sells, we refund what we recover from the sale, less a £25 admin fee. We can’t promise a resale, so it depends on demand at the time.

Move to another Morocco trip. If we’re running another Midlifechic Escape in Morocco, you can put what you’ve paid towards it instead, subject to availability and any difference in price.

If you don’t travel and haven’t told us, your place is non-refundable. Please tell us either way, even on the day, so we can adjust the arrangements.

This is exactly what travel insurance is for. A good policy covers your non-refundable costs if you have to pull out for illness, a family emergency or disruption, which is why we ask every delegate to take one out.

4. Transferring your place

If you can’t come, you can pass your place to another Midlifechic reader up to 14 days before departure, for a £25 admin fee that covers the paperwork and the change with our partner.

Email us with your name and booking reference, the name and email of the person taking your place, and any dietary needs or requests they’d like us to know. We’ll confirm the transfer in writing and update the booking. The new delegate takes on these same conditions.

We can’t transfer a place to anyone Midlifechic has previously had to remove from the community.

5. If we have to cancel or change the trip

It’s rare, but now and then a trip can’t run as planned, for too few bookings, for supplier failure, or for reasons outside anyone’s control. Our Morocco partner has confirmed the cover behind this, so if we cancel the trip you choose one of three things:

  • A full refund of everything you’ve paid, deposit included, with nothing deducted.
  • An equivalent retreat in Morocco at a future date, at no extra cost, subject to availability and any small adjustment if the underlying costs have genuinely moved.
  • A credit held against a future Midlifechic Escape, to use within 24 months of the original trip date.

The choice is yours. If we postpone rather than cancel outright, you can move your booking to the new date or take the full refund. If we make a significant change, a different riad or a materially different programme, we’ll tell you as soon as we can and refund you in full if the new shape no longer works for you.

We don’t cover knock-on costs such as flights you’ve booked yourself, so please arrange travel insurance before you book anything around the trip.

6. Travel insurance is required

Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of joining this trip, not just a suggestion. Please take out a policy as soon as you book, covering cancellation, medical care abroad, and trip disruption. Bring the details with you.

The cost is small next to the protection it gives you, and for a trip abroad it matters. If you’re not sure where to start, your bank or building society may offer travel cover as part of a packaged account.

7. Circumstances beyond anyone’s control

Some situations are nobody’s fault and still stop a trip running as planned. These include a Foreign Office advisory against travel to Morocco, an airline or transport strike, an act of terrorism or civil disturbance, a natural event, a public-health restriction, or the failure of essential services at the riad.

Where this happens we turn to the three options in section 5. Where costs have already been lost with suppliers and can’t be recovered, we’ll refund whatever we can and be straight with you about what that is and why. This is the gap your travel insurance is built to close.

8. How to cancel

Email mal@midlifechic.co.uk with your full name, the trip (Midlifechic Escape Marrakech, 17 to 20 March 2027), your booking reference, and a short note on why. You don’t owe us the detail, it just helps us help you.

We’ll reply within two working days to confirm your cancellation and the next steps. Your cancellation counts from the date we receive your email, so please send it from an address you check.

9. How refunds are processed

Any refund goes back to the card or account you paid from, through Stripe. Once we’ve confirmed it, it usually lands within 5 to 10 working days and shows as a separate transaction rather than a reversal of the original.

If you don’t see it within 10 working days of our confirmation, email us and we’ll chase it with Stripe.

10. Small changes to the trip

The heart of the escape, the group, the riad, the time set aside, is what you’re booking, and that won’t change. Smaller details may flex. Meal venues can move, the order of a day can shift to suit the group, and menus follow what’s good and available locally.

Changes like these are part of running a trip well and don’t entitle you to a refund. If anything changes enough to materially affect what you booked, we’ll come to you directly.

11. Your information

When you book we collect your name, email, dietary needs and any requests, used only to run this trip and to contact you about it. We share dietary or access details with the riad and our partner where the kitchen or the ground team needs them, and nowhere else.

Our full privacy policy is at midlifechic.com/privacy-policy.

12. Your statutory rights and governing law

Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, a booking for an event on set dates isn’t subject to the standard 14-day cooling-off period, so the terms above are what apply instead. If you ever feel the trip wasn’t provided as described, we’ll deal with it under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, so please raise it with us first so we can put it right.

Your booking is a contract with Midlifechic, made under the law of England and Wales, and subject to the courts of England and Wales.

13. Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you’d like to talk it through before you book or cancel, email mal@midlifechic.co.uk. We’re a small team and we’ll always come back to you personally.
